Twenty Children to India Appeal
Zwan Family Charity is urgently raising funds for 20 disabled Afghan children to travel from Kabul, Afghanistan to the RCFC Hospital in Kolkata, India. These children have been given the chance to receive orthopaedic care free of cost. Zwan Family Charity needs to raise $30,000 before the 25th November 2015 in order to book flight tickets and hire a coach to take the children, one parent of each child, 3 members of CEAO and 2 Zwan Family Charity members who will provide medical assistance during the journey. The group will fly from Kabul to New Delhi and from there, travel by coach to Kolkata. Depending on the length of time each child needs to stay at the hospital for treatment, they will return at different times so we plan on flying patients back from Kolkata via New Delhi and back home to Kabul.
***UPDATE***: We are over a third of the way to reaching our goal of $30,000. We can now begin the process of applying for passports and visa’s for some of the children and their Carers. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated so far, please keep the donations coming so we can get everyone to Kolkata!
***UPDATE*** We are just $13,632 away from reaching our goal of $30,000!! Please continue to support our campaign by making donations or spreading the word about us. We greatly appreciate all support given in getting the children to having their treatment in India.
***UPDATE*** A fundraising event was held at Pablos International in Spain on the 25th November in aid of the children. There was a great turn out and support given to the hosts, Pablo’s, and event organizer, Stevie Spit. The event raised a total of 723 Euro’s with more donations being pledged at the time of writing. Kim and Janette from Zwan Family Charity were able to do a live link up via Skype from Kabul to Spain to thank everyone for their generous support and making our FIRST international fundraiser a great success!
***UPDATE*** Yesterday was an exciting day!!!!!
$12,000 was spent on the round trip tickets from Kabul to Delhi for all 43 people.
We continue to work with the fine folks at CEOA to arrange the air tickets, or bus, from Delhi to Kolkata and back.
We will continue to collect donations for this campaign so please continue to share the story of the journey for these kids!
The children have been in India for over a week now, four of them have undergone surgery and the others are receiving orthopedic treatments. Their story has made it into the local newspaper and they have appeared on television in India! CEOA Deputy Director, Nargis,, is working tirelessly with the families every day – we don’t know where she gets her energy from but she’s making a huge difference! The staff at RCFC in Kolkata have been simply wonderful in helping these kids get the treatment they so urgently require to improve their quality of life; everyone is doing such a great job!
